The inspiration to buy the Xiaomi steam iron or steamer came from its convenience. The first time I used a steam iron was when I worked at PT MAP Aktif Adiperkasa, during a product photoshoot session helping the photographer smooth out clothes. My first experience with a steam iron was how simple the process was—just hang the product, and in no time, the clothes were neat. The only slightly tricky part was refilling the water into the storage tank, which is the main source of steam for the iron.

Why buy Xiaomi’s steam iron?
When I opened the NOIR pop-up store, I thought having an iron was essential for a clothing store. Buying the kind of steam iron used at MAP was quite expensive for a newly opened clothing store. While browsing Shopee, I discovered that Xiaomi released a steam iron at an affordable price. The product is called the Xiaomi Zanjia Mijia.
First Impressions
The first time I held the product, it felt solid, and its white color looked modern. Xiaomi’s steam iron comes equipped with a brush attachment that can be fitted onto the iron’s nozzle to remove particles stuck to clothing and gloves for protection. Unfortunately, the plug used is not the standard one commonly used for electronic devices in Indonesia. So, I had to buy a new plug adapter to make it compatible.
Using it was very convenient because it’s lightweight. When I turned it on for the first time, it heated up quickly. The steam was hot enough to remove wrinkles from clothes. The product is compact, making it easy to maneuver around the edges of garments.
The downside of Xiaomi’s portable steam iron is its small water tank capacity. The tank is located at the back, attached to the unit. A single refill might only be enough for 4-5 pieces of clothing. Additionally, its white color turned out to be a drawback as well. The product requires more frequent cleaning, especially around the cord, because white products tend to show stains and dirt more quickly.
Conclusion
That’s the review of Xiaomi Portable Steam Iron. This product is indeed suitable for travel due to its compact size. For household use, it’s less ideal because multiple refills are needed to smooth out a pile of laundry.
